Challenge 206: Dr Reasoner's Powers
Can you prove Dr Reasoner's claim?
Dr Reasoner (see challenge 191, amongst others) has been investigating powers of integers.
She claims that the difference between consecutive cube numbers (for example, 123 and 133) is never a multiple of three. Is she correct? What evidence can you provide?
What about the claim that the difference between consecutive fourth powers is never a multiple of four?
What about a similar claim for consecutive fifth powers? Or kth powers?
