Challenge 156: Snowball Strike!
Can you find the probability that exactly one student avoids being snowballed?
It’s been snowing at school, and during the lunch break, seven students, each with a snowball, have positioned themselves at equal intervals along a straight path.
At exactly 1pm, each turns to throw their snowball at their nearest neighbour, choosing at random if they have a choice.
Assuming all the snowballs hit their target, what is the probability that exactly one student avoids being snowballed?
