Governor and chair of education committee

King’s Maths School is looking for a new governor to Chair our Education Committee. Our current Chair of Education has held the role since the school was founded in 2014. The ideal candidate will have experience as a head teacher in a state school, will have experience of achieving outstanding results with a focus on student and staff welfare and achieving high levels of diversity in the student and staff bodies. Please write to the Chair of Governors, Sandy Rattray by email at KCLMSChair@kcl.ac.uk if you are interested in this volunteer role.

KCLMS is a thriving 16-19 academy and free school founded in 2014. In it's short history, the school has had unparalleled academic success, consistently the top school or one of the best schools in the country for A Level results, for Value-Added, for university acceptance rates and more. The school also has a strong mission towards widening participation and ensuring students who would not otherwise get access to great maths education, particularly those from traditionally under-represented groups, can experience it by enrolling at the school and through our extensive outreach programme.

The Chair of Governors seeks an individual with experience of leading a state school and driving or maintaining academic success to fulfill this critical role in the function of the governing body. The selected volunteer will ensure accountability and challenge regarding the schools educational decisions relating to admissions, curriculum, student support and academic leadership. The ideal volunteer would also be able to take on the link role of Safeguarding Governor from the existing Chair.

There is no requirement to have taught maths or a closely-related subject.

The Governing Body and Education Committee both meet four times per year at the school site, conveniently located close to Waterloo station, Lambeth North tube station and other public transport routes.
