Summer Schools

During the summer, KCLMS will be running two completely free summer schools. One will be aimed at Year 11 students who are planning to take Maths and Physics at A Level this September. The other will be aimed at enthusiastic female, and female-identifying, mathematicians and physicists coming to the end of Year 10. They will both take place from Monday 11th July to Thursday 14th July.

REVISION+

REVISION+ is our FREE, Easter masterclass programme for Year 11 students who are aiming for one of the top grades in their GCSE. The programme will improve your mathematical and scientific knowledge. This year sessions took place here, at King's Maths School from the 11th to the 14th April.

MESME Maths Circle

A Maths Circle is a group of students who come together to grapple with intriguing puzzles, discover and explore exciting ideas and learn to think like mathematicians.

Our experience is that the students who most enjoy the Circles are high-attainers who love problem-solving and imaginative, creative thinking.

Extensions: mathematics beyond the classroom

Online sessions of problem solving and mathematical thinking that will take place every Monday, 17:00 to 18:30 during the Spring term. The sessions will involve deeper thinking and groupwork to tackle problems that you may not get to learn about at GCSE. They will get you out of your comfort zone, and discussing new maths with your peers.

Extensions Physics

King’s Maths School are offering Y12 Extension Physics sessions. The first priority of the sessions will problem solving as preparation for university admissions exams such as the PAT, ENGAA & NSAA, followed up with interview practice. There will also be some training for the British Physics Olympiads. Essentially the focus will be on meaningful physics enrichment.

GCSE+ Physics

GCSE+ Physics is a free fortnightly programme for students in Year 11 who enjoy physics and seek a deeper understanding of physical concepts. You will get the chance to take part in practicals and solidify your understanding with experienced, skilled and knowledgeable physics teachers.

GCSE+ Maths

GCSE+ Maths is an extensive programme of enrichment for students in Years 9 and 10, with sessions running fortnightly on weekday evenings during term time from September.

GCSE+ Maths Year 11

The focus of these sessions is preparation for GCSE: each week we look in detail at a particular topic from the syllabus and, together, work through some challenging questions on that topic. These sessions are designed for those Year 11 students who are aiming for a top grade in GCSE Maths, and are thinking of studying Maths and perhaps also Further Maths in Year 12.

GCSE+ Maths Year 11 sessions take place online on Fridays, from 16:45 to 18:00, starting Friday 10 September.

PHYSICS+

PHYSICS+ is our FREE, online four day summer school for Year 11 students who like Physics and are keen to keep studying Physics beyond their GCSE's.

The summer school is for students who are from backgrounds currently under-represented in the study of Physics. This year PHYSICS+ ran online from 12 to 15 July 2021. You can find out more about the PHYSICS+ programme here.

Year 11 BRIDGE FM

The focus of these sessions is an introduction to some of the 'big ideas' of Further Maths in year 12. More information to follow later on in the year.
